Jon Acuff's Empty Shelf Challenge

At the start of this year I was informed about a reading challenge, of sorts. It's more of an anti-reading-challenge in that it's purpose is to remove the pressure of a reading challenge. The overall thought is that you clear off a shelf on your bookshelf. Whenever you finish a book, place it on the shelf and then stand in awe of how many books you've read without even trying. You can read more about Jon Acuff's challenge here!

I thought that I would share my empty shelf with you thus far. However, I'm withholding my September reads for an end-of-September book post! You better come back for it. :)

To start off, here's an overview of my bookshelves. My baby. I put more time into reorganizing and decorating these shelves than I would ever admit. The bookshelf in itself is from Ikea; however, we bought it from a friend of ours who was getting rid of it. When the lovely bookshelf came into our possession it was an odd color so I gave it a face lift and I couldn't be more happy with the robin's egg color. On the right is the globe that I bought the other day. You can read about that adventure here. Isn't it gorgeous?

The top of my bookshelf holds many hydrangeas, a sign from Hobby Lobby, a Benjamin Franklin bobble head, and my 'empty shelf'. Without further ado, here are the books that I've been reading this year. If you want to know what I rated these books and what books I'll be reading in the future head on over to Goodreads.

**Most of these books can be purchased on Thriftbooks.com. If you purchase any of these books through my affiliate link, which can be found here or by clicking on the title of a specific book, I will receive a small commission for every book that you purchase. I have used Thriftbooks.com to purchase a number of books and have had no problems, their prices are hard to beat and their customer service is wonderful.

- I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai
- Graceful by Emily P. Freeman

- Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline

- Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan

Somewhere in there I listened to Jesus > Religion by Jefferson Bethke on audio book, I just can't remember when that was! Anyway, this was a little bit different than my other posts; however, if you've read any of these books let me know what you thought of them in the comments. Check out what I rated these books over on Goodreads and while you're there... follow me! 1. I LOVE your bookshelf, was it painted when I was home or did you just do that? I forget! Haha. And I LOVE LOVE your globe! :) And your ability to read so many books, hehehe :)

  3. After recovering from my annoyed state at the amount of time I spent driving and the lack of clothes that I ended up buying... I'm pretty happy with my globe purchase! :)
