The other night my friend, Kristen, and I planned a super eventful night out on the town. Just kidding! We went to the bookstore. :) It was a ton of fun and just what I needed this week. Additionally, I got a few much needed books as I am running out of things to read. Kidding again! I got books that I don't need; however, 2nd and Charles was having a Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale on all of their clearance books. Of course I had to go!!
I was expecting to go into the bookstore and buy a ton of books, none of which were on clearance. But, contrary to my belief, I ended up with 5 books, 4 of which were on clearance. I payed $9.50 for 5 books! I'd say that it was a pretty successful trip. I meant to take plenty of pictures and selfies for you, but I'm still learning the art of taking pictures as it's pretty much my least favorite thing in the world. To make up for the fact that I have zero pictures from my exciting night on the town, I have many amusing selfies to share with you. Please take this peace offering.
**Most of these books can be purchased on Thriftbooks.com. If you purchase any of these books through my affiliate link, which can be found here or by clicking on the title of a specific book, I will receive a small commission for every book that you purchase. I have used Thriftbooks.com to purchase a number of books and have had no problems, their prices are hard to beat and their customer service is wonderful.**
The first, and only non-clearance, book that I bought was The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood. Atwood also wrote The Handmaid's Tale which I just recently finished and loved! At only $4.50 I couldn't resist...
Starting with the clearance books, I picked up Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood by Rebecca Wells. I must admit, the only reasons I bought this book is because it was on a Rory Gilmore Reading List that I found on Pinterest and it was only $3.00.
The first free book that I picked up was The Manual of Detection by Jedidiah Berry. I'm not entirely sure what the book is about but it sounded intriguing and I've seen it recommended in conjunction with The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde. Of which I am a fan of. The book was on clearance for $1.50 but I paid $0.00!!
The next book that I got off of the clearance rack was The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. Okay. I don't know anything about this either. It had books on the front. It was about books. It is a book. It was $2.00. End of story.
The last book that I got for free was Sarah's Key by Tatiana De Rosnay. I've heard some good things about this book and someone said it was their favorite ever. So that's pretty crazy. I picked it up because why not?
Have you read any of these books? Were they any good? Let me know!!
